The Fuel Farm at NASNI includes several tanks, buildings, and infrastructure that support the Fuel Farm operations. The current tanks and infrastructure have become underused because of decreased demands. To save maintenance costs and reduce the potential for dormant fuel sitting in the tanks, a reduction in overall capacity of the Fuel Farm is needed. The project includes demolition of Tanks 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 1032, Building 376, a metal Quonset hut-storage facility, and the northern three-tankard refueling station islands and loading areas. Additionally, the project includes minor demolition and removal of various site items, including existing abandoned fire alarm systems, abandoned cathodic protection rectifiers, an abandoned generator, and associated appurtenances, cabinets, and pads. The project removes the existing OWS equipment, Equipment 948 and 949, and provides a replacement with increased capacity to support the secondary containment volumes. The project removes and relocates the large and small refueler truck parking areas into one consolidated parking location on the southern side of the Fuel Farm. The project includes reconstruction of the existing concrete containment areas at the truck refueling area and truck unloading/loading areas; the new containment for these areas will be provided by a remote containment basin. The project includes modifications to existing Tanks 2 and 4 with a platform, new packaged Lube Oil Tank system installation, and new site lighting and grounding for the remaining tank area. The project includes an Underground Stormwater Infiltration Chamber System (USICS) for stormwater management.
